Favorite read of the Year

I just read this book in May and thus far it's my favorite read of the year. Technically a young adult novel, I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys an historical fiction novel with strong characters. The story takes place during WWII; the main character has been captured by the Nazis and in order to avoid further torture, she is giving them her secrets. She does this in the form of a novel to prolong her life as she believes they plan to kill her when she finishes her story. Ultimately this is the story of two best friends and the enduring power of that friendship during the insanity of war.
